Academics

The curriculum offered in these years enables students to develop their higher order thinking as well as skills, attitudes and Christian world view required as active participants in society. The aim is to empower our young people to live rich, full lives and to contribute to society in a positive way.

The range of pathways offered to students allows them to tailor their academic programs as they complete the Senior Phase of schooling and fulfil the requirements for the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). Whether they plan to attend university or TAFE, engage in further training or embrace employment; students can be assured that their individual abilities, interests and ambitions will be prioritised through either core subjects or community partnerships with CQUniversity (SUN Program and VETiS) and other Registered Training Organisations.

The Year 10 Program provides students with the appropriate learning, organisational and study pre-requisites to ensure students engage successfully in Years 11 and 12. A dedicated weekly ‘Careers’ subject provides your child with the information they need to make informed decisions on their careers and aspirations.

Spiritual Growth

Senior students are active in the school’s Christian culture, leading Praise and Worship in Chapel services and school events, through the Prep Buddy Program and leading fundraising for community and service projects. Missions and outreach opportunities are also provided.

Social and Emotional Development

Daily form classes provide pastoral care and support for student wellbeing. The Annual Senior School Leadership Camp allows students to experience and take a lead in decision making and problem solving projects.

Physical Development

Health and Physical Education is available as an elective subject for senior students. Lighthouse encourages Seniors to join school teams to train and compete in local sporting competitions against other Rockhampton regional schools.
