Physical Development

Our students are physically active through their involvement in Health and Physical Education classes and inter-school sporting competitions.

Physical activity is vital for a child’s development and lays the foundation for healthy and active living and learning.

Lighthouse offers a broad range of physically active learning experiences and organised sporting activities that foster the development of healthy habits throughout childhood and adolescence.

Every student at Lighthouse is provided with weekly Physical Education lessons (optional subject in Years 11 and 12). Students from Year 5 and over are encouraged to be part of the school teams which play in Rockhampton District School soccer, netball, basketball, hockey and futsal competitions.

Inter-house carnivals foster fun and double as a selection trial for pathways to District, Regional and State Track and Field and Cross Country events.

A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.

PROVERBS 24:5

Lighthouse students compete in an annual inter-house athletics carnival, with our best athletes qualifying for the Rockhampton District Athletics Carnival.

Our students excel at inter-school sports including basketball, netball, futsal, soccer, volleyball, hockey and more.

Our annual Fun Run promotes physical activity while fundraising for more sporting and playground equipment.
